About me
Sarah Mendoza, Real Estate Professional
Live the American Dream
For over 40 years, I had the privilege of being the Youth Program Coordinator and Supervisor for the City of Pasadena, Foothill Workforce Development Board. During my tenure, I assisted at risk youth, ages 14 through 24, by providing hands-on work experience, so they may become self-sufficient. Working with this program provided me strong leadership and communication skills, and inner strength.
Assisting at-risk youth really hit home, because I too was an at-risk youth and walked in the same shoes of those I assisted over the years. My gratitude for the opportunity the City of Pasadena provided me, helped me to thrive in my career. As a result of my hard work and determination, in 2007, I was
recognized by the State of California as "Employee of the Year” and in 2016, Business Life Magazine honored me with the 27 th annual “Celebrating Women, Women’s Achievers Award”.
Tragically, after assisting thousands of youths throughout my career, on December 18, 2015, my only child, Robert Arthur Calderon, was murdered at the tender age of 27. To this day, justice has not been served. Despite my heartache, I continue to strive forward and contribute to the community and assist those in need in my son’s honor. One of my contributions is providing funeral planning and funding assistance for disadvantaged families. I also started a “Mothers in Grief” support group, to assist mothers coping with the loss of their loved ones. Although these contributions will not bring my son back to me, I truly value having the ability to support those that are experiencing grief similar to my own.
Throughout my life, the most important lesson I’ve learned is despite it all, God is good. I would not be the woman I am today without the good, the bad, and the real-life experiences I have encountered. I have learned that assisting others brings me great joy, and in the spirit of altruism I am bringing my
knowledge, skills, and experience to the Real Estate market to assist people in achieving the American Dream of home ownership.
